How To Get Rich in Nigeria: The Best Strategies for Getting Wealthy

How To Get Rich in Nigeria: The Best Strategies for Getting Wealthy

Nigerians are passionate people. They love to create and build, they're hardworking and entrepreneurial, they're ambitious and industrious. A lot of us also want to get rich; we want the best for our families, we want a better life for ourselves. But most Nigerians don't know how to go about it - that is: what steps should one take in order to be successful? This blog post is about the things you need to do in order to become wealthy as a Nigerian (in Nigeria).

Section 1: Be Prepared to Work Hard

When you are going for any high paying job, don't be lazy; work harder than any other person who wants that job. Not that there's anything wrong with laziness. But working harder will definitely make you reach that top position. Take note, you don't get rich because you're lucky; you work hard for it.

Section 2: Get a Working Smart Phone

When it comes to acquiring things, we all know that there are two sides to everything; you can either work to get it or you can simply take it for granted. Learn to be productive. The iPhone X sold out in 30 seconds in Japan; this is when you know that some people have the right idea.

Section 3: Be Valued

You know how some people are always talking about things, especially when it comes to business? These people always want to be respected.

Change Your Mindset

Many people believe that a successful career is a steady job, with regular income. But the truth is that working for the man is the very definition of being poor. Of course you need steady income to survive, but the reason why you're working for a man is because you want him to notice you. By working for him, you're telling him that he's important to you and so you should be rewarded. Working for a man does not make you rich. It's what you do with what you have that makes you rich. The fact that you have a steady income is nothing to be proud of - all the more reason why you need to change your mindset!

Work for the man if you have to; find other ways to survive. But while you're working for someone else, work smart. Get experience.

Have a Goal

"A goal without a plan is just a wish".

Once you've formulated your goal, take it step by step. There's no point setting up huge plans and never following through because it's simply impossible to achieve such lofty goals.

However, to keep yourself focused on your goal, it's essential to determine how to get from one milestone to another and to how much it's going to cost. Always keep your eyes on the prize.

Set a Budget

You must have a budget. You must have a budget for every expense. You must have a budget for the amount of money that you'll need to earn in order to reach your goal. Your budget must be clear, concise and realistic.

You must take into account all the costs you need to incur in order to be successful. You must also know how to put a budget into practice.

Acquire Skills and Knowledge

"Too many people are trying to get rich but aren't willing to put in the work necessary" - Ashrya Thilaga

One of the best ways to become wealthy in Nigeria is to acquire skills and knowledge. There are many ways you can go about this, but one of the most successful is to acquire professional certifications and other qualifications. For example, having a diploma in journalism will improve your employability chances and give you a competitive edge in the job market. This will help you to make more money and grow your business.

Don't Get Carried Away With Money

"Having money is all fun and games but money, not having it, is a different story." - Maxwell Smart

Again, this isn't a one-size-fits-all issue.

Get a Good Education

Education can be a pathway to wealth, but not for everyone. So before you decide to go down that route, know what kind of education you need in order to excel in your chosen career, and what you'll have to do to get it.

If you don't have high-school diploma, a certificate can get you started. Though you might have to take a short-course to learn coding or web development if you're not good with it, which may involve going for part-time studies to free up your time.

Don't lie about your age

There are people who get into the business of offering fake certificates to young people. For this reason, it's always advisable to be honest when claiming your age.

Make Money Now!

There is no point waiting until tomorrow, that is, until tomorrow when you're 40 years old and a lot of things you want will be available to you. Why don't you make it happen today?

Now you have read my article, you're probably wondering what I mean by 'make money now!'

Well, let's say that you work for a company, the pay is nothing to write home about, you may be bored, you may feel like you're not being treated as a valued human being, that you're only working for the experience.

If you work for a Nigerian employer, you'll never get rich. I know, that's not quite right, but that's the picture that our eyes and hearts see, for the Nigerian employer, employees are disposable. All that matters is how much they can put in their pocket without giving a damn about you or your productivity.

Become a Successful Entrepreneur

Many people are finding their way in business, while others have done so successfully. A successful entrepreneur is a hard worker and business owner. He/she is focussed and determined. For instance, a successful entrepreneur always has a goal to work towards. He/she also sees his/her business as his or her life. A successful entrepreneur knows what he wants and goes after it. He/she plans for his/her future, business and family. He/she is consistent in business and will be around for years to come. A successful entrepreneur isn't going to start another business after they're already doing very well. The life of an entrepreneur is a story of hope and success.
