Yemi Alade's Brilliant New Album, 'Woman Of Steel'
Listen To Yemi Alade's Brilliant New Album, 'Woman Of Steel'
Featuring Duncan Mighty, Angélique Kidjo and Rick Ross!
This year has been a particularly successful one for Yemi Alade, as she set multiple YouTube records, and dropped a career-defining collaboration with Rick Ross. To crown all her efforts, Yemi Alade now enters the last quarter with a brand new album, Woman of Steel.
Opening the album with a sensual number, "Night and Day", Yemi Alade flaunts her ability to make innocent-seeming, catchy tunes that are laden with sexual undertones, which she also does on the Duncan Mighty-assisted "Shake" and the mellow "Vibe".
To contrast this flurry of carnal songs on the 15-track project, Yemi Alade adorns "Yeba" — a fantastic Yung Willis-produced jam —with some witty storytelling about a Yoruba demon who, after her experience with "Johnny", she's wise enough to reject.

Flaunting her versatility, Yemi Alade infuses a bunch of different sounds into Woman of Steel — from reggae notes on "CIA (Criminal In Agbada)" to r&b sensibilities on "Remind You", "Lai Lai" and "Somto".
When it comes to the features she lines up, Angelique Kidjo, unsurprisingly, stands out on the bright track, "Shekere". The pair have amazing synergy, making their duet one of the strongest tracks on the entire album.

From "Yeba" onward, Woman of Steel really picks up, as Yemi Alade doles out a roll of impressive jams. While she rarely gets the respect she clearly deserves, Yemi Alade remains one of our most consistent hit-makers — a fact she reaffirms with this album.
