In the midst of its ongoing recruitment of 10,000 constables, The Police Service Commission issued a statement warning prospective candidates who applied as constables to ignore a list of candidates initially posted by the National Police Force.

Police Service Commission Spokesman Ikechukwu Ani, discredited the list which contained shortlisted applicants invited for a medical screening on 9th to 14th September. The list was said to have been compiled solely by the Nigerian Police Force, with no involvement from the Police Service Commission.

Ani further advised applicants who took part in the aptitude on August 3rd to standby for the authentic list to be released and assured that the recruitment process would be merit-driven and transparent, in line with the Public Service Rules and Federal Character principle.

He also stated that “(The commission) will resist any attempt to sabotage its efforts in this direction. Applicants are, therefore, advised not to panic or despair as all their interests will be adequately protected.”

It was learned that Alhaji Musiliu Smith, a retired Inspector-General of Police, was shocked to hear the news of the release of the results though he is being accused of colluding in the release of the NPF's list.
